Explore Burlington Northern’s “Coal Country”. Beginning at Lincoln, Nebraska, to Alliance. Then traveling a loop over the Angora, Valley, Canyon, Orin, Black Hills, Edgemont and Butte Subdivisions, finally arriving back in Alliance.
In the months right after the merger with the Santa Fe, Hal Pantti explored Burlington Northern’s “Coal Country”. Beginning at Lincoln, Nebraska, Hal traveled to Alliance. Then he followed a loop, traveling over the Angora, Valley, Canyon, Orin, Black Hills, Edgemont and Butte Subdivisions, finally arriving back in Alliance for the return trip home. In this program although the BNSF had just formed, you’ll witness the final months of what still looked like true BN action in this region. As the Union Pacific shared the Orin Sub, you will see UP trains as well as UP power, which often pooled with BN power. Plenty of great locations!
