Gaetano Donizetti's classic opera focuses on the complex relationship between Queen Elisabetta (Laura Polverelli) and Maria Stuarda (Maria Pia Piscitelli), two cousins who both desire the love and exclusive attentions of the handsome conte di Leicester (Roberto De Biasio).
