Fifteen years after naturalizing in Japan, Ryoko lives a life severed from her past as both mother and daughter. When her estranged daughter Xu Yan arrives for a reunion, they navigate a fragile landscape of secrets. As Ryoko grapples with a physical transformation that threatens her new identity, she does not yet know that Xu Yan has come bearing news that cannot be undone.
